The electrical and electronics industry plays a particularly important role in modernizing and further developing an extensive range of infrastructure areas. At the same time, because of its dual role as user and producer, it also holds a special position among the industrial sectors:
Like every other branch, as a user, the electrical and electronics industry is reliant on the corresponding infrastructure in order to remain competitive. On the one hand, the existence of and access to the relevant local facilities is essential. On the other, infrastructural links to international markets are the top priority for an industry that is highly export-oriented. At the same time, the electrical and electronics industry is the most significant producer of infrastructure in the telecommunications, transport and energy sectors and is a leader in research and development.
For the producing companies in the electrical and electronics industry, the continual expansion of infrastructure ensures full order books and consequently secures their positive development in the future. As a user, the electrical and electronics industry is reliant on the adequate infrastructure being in place in order to fulfil these orders. Moreover, the conditions must allow these companies to remain competitive in the international arena. This is the only way to prevent relocation of production abroad and attract new companies to the country.
Continuous investment in infrastructure also enhances Austria’s appeal as a business location and improves its ability to compete with other countries. For the electrical and electronics industry, such expansion secures the industry’s future performance capacity on both levels.
